Obituary of Jay Sigurd Seppanen Atlantic Mine Jay Sigurd Seppanen, 48, of Atlantic Mine passed away unexpectedly on Monday October 13, 2008. Jay was born on January 15, 1960 in Highland Park. He is the son of Olga Seppanen of Houghton and the late Siegert Seppanen. Jay graduated from Harrison High School in 1978 and moved to the Copper Country shortly thereafter. On May 30, 1980 Jay was united in marriage to Joanne Erva. Jay worked at Hancock Bottling until 1999 when ill health forced him into retirement. Jay enjoyed, spending time with his family, watching them participate in sports and his sense of humor will be fondly remembered. Preceding him in death was his father Siegert. Surviving are his loving wife Joanne, children Amy (Tom) Saari of Gwinn, Greg (Jen), Aaron, Bonnie (Justin) Veker, Melinda, Brett, and Shelby, all of Atlantic Mine, mother Olga of Houghton, two brothers Jerry (Betty) of Palm Coast, FL, John (Mary) of Mio, MI, and one sister, Jane (Dave) Laskowski of Livonia. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. The visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 4-8pm at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church on Sharon Avenue in Houghton. Burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery. Funeral services will be held on Friday October 17, 2008 at 11am.
