Obituary of Jean Narhi TAMARACK CITY Jean Narhi, 77, a life-long resident of Tamarack City, died unexpectantly on Friday, August 17, 2012 at her home. She was born on January 26, 1935 in Tamarack Junction a daughter of the late Arvid and Lena (Oja) Narhi. Jean attended the Tamarack City and Dollar Bay Schools. Miss Narhi worked at the College Motel in Houghton and also for the Leblanc's IGA Store in Hubbell. She enjoyed knitting beautiful sweaters, vests, scarfs, afghans for family and friends. Jean was a lover of animals, enjoyed puzzle building and playing search word. Jean was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hubbell where she taught Sunday school. She also was a member of the Joy Club of the Bethany Baptist Church in Dollar Bay, Suomi Kerho Club of Gloria Dei, and the Ladies Group of Salvation Army. Preceding her in death were her parents, 4 brothers, Hank, Don, Vic and Reino, 2 sisters, Lee Hyrkas and Esther Linja. Surviving are 1 sister, Clarice Narhi a resident patient at Cypress Manor in Hancock; 1 sister-in-law, Delores Narhi of Hubbell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 1 p.m., from the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with the Rev. Peter Vorhes to officiate. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
