Obituary of Jennie Miriam Paavola Houghton Jennie "Jean" Paavola, 88, a former resident of Houghton passed away Wednesday evening December 28, 2011, at Whispering Pines Assisted Living Community in Grand Rapids. She was born on April 17, 1923, to William & Olivia Raisanen, in Redridge, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Norman Paavola. She is survived by two sons & their wives; Norm & Joan Paavola of Kentwood, MI, and Kim & Robin Paavola of Alto, MI. Also surviving are four grandchildren; John, Ethan, Isaac, and Zachary. Her brothers Carl Raisanen of Livonia and Arnold Raisanen of Seattle, WA. Funeral services for Jean will be held 2 pm Monday January 2, 2012, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock. Spring burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock. Friends may call on Monday from 1 pm until time of services at the funeral home.
