Obituary of John Jabez Clark Boston Location John J. Clark, 88, a resident of Boston Location passed away peacefully at home with family and friends by his side, Monday June 24, 2013. He was born on October 5, 1924, in Royal Oak, MI a son of the late John W. and Vivian (McGuire) Clark. John was a proud veteran having served with the 101st Airborne during World War II where he received 5 Battle Stars and was in the Battle of the Bulge. John then received his GED and attended Wayne State University studying Criminal Justice. Mr. Clark was first employed with a Dye-casting shop, then with DSR as a driver. In 1951 he accepted a job with the Communications Department of the Detroit Police Department where he retired from in August of 1979, after 33 years. In 1979, he moved to make his home in the Copper Country. John was first married to the former Mary June Brown in 1947. The couple raised 3 sons together and after 28 years parted ways. In 1979, he met Shirley (Weijola) Jampsa, and after 10 precious years together, they united in marriage on October 7th, 1989. While residing in Lower Michiga,n John was a former member and past Post Commander of VFW Post #147 of Highland Park, American Legion Post #120, he was also a former member of Masonic Lodge, Lions Club and Hiberian Club of Irish Descent. Locally he was a former member of Rangers Post #6165 VFW of South Range and Presently a member of Copper Ingot Post #4624 VFW and William Giroux Post #90 American Legion of Lake Linden John was a talented person and a self-taught plumber, electrician, brick layer & carpenter that could fix just about anything As he said" if he can't fix it, it can't be fixed." He was a man who loved to wear and collect a variety of hats. John always enjoyed joking and making people laugh and also laughing at himself. Mr. Clark was a boxer in the service, and a huge fan of boxing. Preceding him in death were his son Robert Timothy, his parents, his brothers Lloyd and Robert, and his sister June. Funeral services for John will be held 2pm Friday June 28, 2013, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. David Weber to officiate. Burial will be in the Waasa Cemetery.
