Obituary of John Matthew Deaton Hurontown John M. Deaton, 35, a resident of Hurontown unexpectedly passed away Saturday evening August 11, 2012. He was born on December 2, 1976, in Bay City, MI, a son of Diane Schumacher and the late Fred Deaton. He resided in Bay City and Kalamazoo, MI, before moving with his mother to Hurontown where he graduated from the Ryan/Houghton High School with the class of 1997. John then resided in Alaska, Texas, and North Carolina before 1999 when returned to make his home in Hurontown. John had been employed locally with Mancino's restaurant and for the past several years had been working with the Monastery in Eagle River, MI. John enjoyed volunteering with Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly for over 25 years especially during the holidays. He also loved animals and volunteered with the Copper Country Humane Society and DOGS-N (K-9 search and rescue) Preceding him in death was his father, Fred Deaton, his brothers Joshua Deaton & Fred Deaton Jr. and his maternal grandfather John Schumacher. Surviving are: His mother: Diane Schumacher of Hurontown His stepfather: Jose Guindo of Hancock His sisters: Yva (Don Joyal) Schumacher of Hancock Kari (Ron) Coombs of South Range His brother: Kenneth (Angie) Schumacher of Alaska His maternal grandmother: Marion Schumacher of Toivola His stepmother: Pat Jacobs of Bay City, MI Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Thursday August 16, 2012, from 3 to 6 PM at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home Hancock for a time to remember John and share stories.
