John Fallon

Obituary of John Howard Fallon Hancock John H. Fallon, 70, a resident of Hancock St., Hancock, passed away early Saturday morning June 3, 2006, at his home. He was born on April 25, 1936, in Hancock a son of the late Howard and Mildred (DesRochers) Fallon. As a child John attended St. Joseph's St. Patrick's Catholic School and was a graduate of Hancock High School with the class of 1954. He continued his education at Michigan Technological University. On February 18, 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Gertrude Virtanen in Painesdale and since that time they have made there home in Hancock. John worked for Gundlach Construction Company for 21 years, and retired from Traverse Engineering of Hancock in 1996. John was a member of the Church of the Resurrection of Hancock where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of B.P.O.E. #404 of Calumet and he was a member of the former B.P.O.E. #381 of Hancock where he was a Past Exalted Ruler. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #692 of Hancock. John was also a member of the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years retiring as Chief. John had many interests and hobbies such as: music, reading, S.C.U.B.A. diving, and investing; John was also a self taught proficient carpenter and was an invaluable source of knowledge for his children. John will always be remembered for his terrific sense of humor and also his acts of generosity throughout the community by his family and friends. John and Gert also enjoyed spending time at their lakeshore property and traveling. Preceding him in death where his parents, 1 Sister; Mary Ann and his son Gregory. Surviving are: his wife Gertrude Fallon of Hancock 4 Sons: John (Laura Koepel) Fallon of Morris, IL Larry (Jill Rowe) Fallon of Dollar Bay Patrick (Connie Morin) Fallon of Saginaw, MI Robert (Diane Czuprynko) Fallon of Addison, IL 5 Daughters: Monica Fallon of West Bend, WI Michele Ultis of Morris, IL Melissa (Jim) Raff of Sheboygan, WI Marcia Bond of Barstow, CA Stephanie Fallon of Hancock 25 Grandchildren & Several cousins A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday June 7, 2006, at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock with Rev. Fr. Wayne Marcotte to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
