John “Bill” Lassi, 84. A resident of Toivola passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.
He was born in Highland Park, MI, a son of the late John and Ingrid (Nurmi) Lassi. Raised in Dearborn Township.
Bill had worked as a union carpenter for over 50 years in the Detroit area.
His family homesteaded on Old Rink Rd. in Toivola. He loved the Toivola area and purchased a 40 acre camp when he had his first chance. Over the years he built his home and a pole barn.
Bill was a proud member of AA for 46 years and a friend of Bill W. He loved his sobriety and attended AA meetings whenever he had a chance.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his daughter Corey.
He is survived by his, wife, Doris Veldhuis and his four daughters Denise Falsetti, Sherri Bell, Terri Staton, and Deanna Lassi. His 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren
A memorial service for Bill is being planned in the Detroit area in late February. A graveside service for Bill is planned for 1:00 pm August 6, 2022, in the Toivola Cemetery.
