Obituary of John Andrew Leskela Boston Location John A. Leskela, 94, of Boston Location passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Mercy Health & Rehab in Hubbell where he had been a resident-patient since August of 2006. John was born on February 19, 1918 in Painesdale, a son of the late Matthew & Hanna (Saily) Leskela. At a young age he moved to the Rice Lake area and attended the local schools. Mr. Leskela was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army Infantry in Rome Arno (Italian), Southern France & Central Europe Campaigns. On January 10, 1946 he married the former Liala A. Parsiala in Laurium, they moved to rural Lake Linden area and owned & operated a farm. He also worked in the logging industry and retired in 1990 when they moved to Boston Location. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2004. Preceding him in death was a sister, Bertha Lindgren of Hubbell and a brother, Wilbert Leskela of Calumet. Surviving are a son, Michael Leskela of Albuquerque, NM; a grandson, Michael Leskela, Jr. of Seattle, WA; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with Rev. David Weber, pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton to officiate. Military rites under the auspices of the Copper Country Veterans Organization will be conducted following the funeral. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in the Veterans Section of Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
