Obituary of John Baran MR Hancock John J. Baran, 101, a resident of Hancock passed away Monday evening March 3, 2014, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock where he had been a patient since November.Mr. Baran was born on July 14, 1912, in Poland, a son of the late Franciszek and Makola (Agnieszka) Baran. He was raised in Poland and had worked as a farmer.As a young man, he moved to Detroit and began working for Castle Steel Company where he retired from after 23 years. He then moved to Fowlerville in retirement and for the past seven years has made his home in Hancock.John was united in marriage to the former Stella Fersz and she preceded him in death in March of 2002.Mr. Baran was always active whether it be working in his garden or helping family & friends with projects or working on projects around his home.
