Obituary of John Pihlaja Dollar Bay John W. Pihlaja, 55, a resident of Dogwood Ave., Dollar Bay, passed away at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI on June 22, 2005, where he was a patient for the past 2 1/2 months. He was born on September 20, 1949, in Hancock, to the late Werner and Helmi (Tuomisto) Pihlaja, and lived since 1972 in Dollar Bay. Mr. Pihlaja had worked for the Horner Flooring Company of Dollar Bay. In November of 1972, he was united in marriage to the former Marian Kaarto. Surviving are: his wife, Marian 3 Sons: Kevin Pihlaja at home Brian Pihlaja at home Jason Pihlaja at home 1 Brother: Charles (Gloria) Pihlaja of Houghton 1 Sister: Mrs. Sandra Patana of the Houghton Canal District Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, & Cousins. A memorial service will be 2 P.M. on Monday August 8, 2005, at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Dean Franz to officiate.
