Obituary of Joseph Johnson Painesdale Joseph A. Johnson, 43, a resident of Painesdale passed away suddenly July 1, 2007. He was born on September 12, 1963, in Hancock, son of Ernie and Kathy (Peltier) Johnson. As a child he attended and graduated from the Hancock High School with the class of 1981. Upon graduation Joe entered the U.S. Army. He served with the Satellite Communications Division spending time in Australia, Germany, Philippians and various other parts of the country and here in the United States. When Joe returned home from the Army he started working in the electrical construction field. He had great mentoring and encouragement from his good friends the Norkol brothers and many others. He then went on to become a licensed electrician. He worked for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 219 out of Iron Mountain. One of Joe's greatest prides was that he was part of the team that built the Rozsa Center at Michigan Technological University in Houghton and Portage Hospital in Hancock. Joe will be sadly missed by his family and numerous friends. His love for the outdoors and growing tomatoes will always be remembered. We can all now put Joe to rest knowing that he is safe and happy in the arms of Jesus. Preceding him in death where his Maternal Grandparents Lawrence and Elmira Peltier and his Paternal Grandfather Arne Johnson. His paternal grandmother: Irene Johnson of Ontonagon & Hancock Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins A memorial service for Joe will be held 3 p.m. Friday July 6, 2007, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Jimalee Jones to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call on Friday at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock from 1 p.m. until time of services.
