Liminga

Joyce E. Barna, 82, a resident of Liminga, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born on July 29, 1943, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, a daughter of Zerelda(Fennern) and the late Ernest Fennern. Joyce was raised on the family farm outside of Wabasso, MN, and was a graduate of the Wabasso High School. She then moved to the Minneapolis area to work.

On August 31, 1963, she was united in marriage to Kerry T. Barna. The couple had resided in Houghton, Dollar Bay, Escanaba, and Ishpeming. During this time Joyce had returned to school for Bookkeeping and had helped various businesses over the years with their bookkeeping needs. Since 1994, the couple had made their home in Liminga. In October of 1997, Kerry preceded Joyce in death.

Mrs. Barna enjoyed knitting, spinning (was a member of the Copper Country Spinners), weaving, and fiber arts projects. She also loved traveling with Kerry and with her daughters, especially to Europe, and working in her gardens and Hobby farm.

Preceding her in death were her husband Kerry T., her son Keith, and her father Ernest.

A memorial service for Joyce will be held 6:00 pm Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service - Hancock Chapel with Rev. Peter Vorhes to officiate.

Friends may call on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 4 to 6:00 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service - Hancock Chapel.
