Joyce Rimpela

Chassell Joyce M. Rimpela, 83, a former resident of Chassell passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Canal View—Houghton County where she had been a resident patient for the past 4 years. Joyce was born on July 21, 1938, in Detroit, MI, daughter of the late Gust and Ellen (Tapio) Bjorklund. As a child, she moved with her family to Chassell and was a graduate of the Chassell High School with the class of 1956. On October 6, 1956, she was united in marriage to Ronald Rimpela. The couple resided in Chassell where they raised their 4 children. On March 20, 2014, Ron preceded Joyce in death. Mrs. Rimpela was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell. Preceding her in death were her husband Ron, Son Bob, her parents, her sister Lorraine Rodgers her brother-in-law; Donald Hill and her mother and father-in-law Henry & Esther Rimpela. Surviving are: Her children: Betty (Tom) Greenleaf of Marquette Brian (Julie) Rimpela of Hancock Kevin (Jenny) Rimpela of Hubbell Her grandchildren: Holly (Michael) Lauren, Luke Heikkinen, Lauren (Chris) Clark, Katie Britz & Melissa Alquist Her great-grandchildren: Sophie, Dalton, Paige, & Jerrica 3 great great-grandchildren Her sister-in-law: Shirley Hill of Ohio Several nieces, nephews and cousins As requested no service will be held at this time.
