Obituary of June Maki HancockJune Mildred (Wesley) Maki, 84, a resident of Hancock, passed away Monday afternoon May 30, 2011, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock.She was born on June 19, 1926, in South Range, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Tynne (Leinonen) Kilpela. She was raised in the South Range area and attended the Painesdale Schools.Millie had worked as a cook at Nelson's Restaurant in Houghton before moving to lower Michigan during World War II where she worked at A.C. Spark Plug Factory as a spot welder. She moved back to the Copper Country and on August 25, 1945, was united in marriage to Wesley Maki. The couple had resided in Mason, Trimountain, South Range, and since 1949 had made their home in Hancock.Mrs. Maki had also worked in the Housekeeping Department at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock retiring after 18 years.June was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock. She was great homemaker that enjoying cooking and baking. She was a caring wife & mother who was loved by all. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.
