Obituary of Karen O'Connell Dodgeville Mrs. Gary O'Connell, 51, a resident of Dodgeville, passed away early Thursday morning March 30, 2006, at the Portage Health Systems Hospital, where she was a patient for 2 days, prior to that she had been ill for the past 8 months. The former Karen D. Niva, was born in Hancock on February 13, 1955, a daughter of Waino Niva and the late Gladys (Harju) Niva. She later lived in Mason Location, Hancock, Baltic, and for the past 2 1/2 years has made her home in Dodgeville. She graduated from the former Suomi College with an Associates Degree in 1993. In January of 1994, she was united in marriage to Gary R. O'Connell Sr. She had worked locally in Nursing Homes and for Econo Foods. Preceding her in death were 1 son Micheal, and her mother Gladys Niva. Surviving are: her husband, Gary R. O'Connell Sr. of Dodgeville 4 Daughters: Patricia (Ronald) O'Connell of Trimountain, Mellisa (Terry) Nordstrom of Baltic, Grace O'Connell of South Range, and Emilee O'Connell of Dodgeville 3 Sons: David Jarvi of Hancock, Gary O'Connell of Phoenix, AZ, Aaron Jarvi stationed with the U.S. Marines at Cherry Point, N.C. Her father: Waino Niva of Hancock 2 Sisters: Gail (John) Masters of Tamarack City Location and Cheryl (John) Statler of Hancock 14 Grandchildren: Terinna, Raymond, Dillan, Ryan, DonnaRae, Stephani, Gabriella, Trent, Trevor, Caleb, Austin, Marissa, Angel, and Sierra. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 1, 2006, at 4 p.m. at the South Range Apostolic Lutheran Church with Rev. Chuck Bylkas to officiate. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of service at the church on Saturday. Interment will take place by her son at the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
