Obituary of Kathryn Brown Kathryn Lockwood Brown of San Lorenzo, NM and Heinola, MI passed away Sunday, August 23rd at Casa De Oro Medical Care Facility in Dona Ana, NM after a brave struggle with cancer. She was born July 29, 1952 in Bad Axe, MI, the daughter of Franklin and Marie (Ziemba) Kladzyk. She attended nursing school at Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan University, and worked as a RN at Portage View Hospital and Keweenaw Home Nursing in Houghton/Hancock, MI for over 20 years. For the past 10 years she owned Integrated Health Services, providing Licensed Massage and Holistic Therapy in Silver City, NM. Kathryn had a great love for family and was consistently thoughtful and caring to all who knew her. She enthusiastically pursued her love of horses, pets, and the land, and shared the bounty of her homes in both Michigan and New Mexico. She had a passion for saving historic places including the preservation of St. Marys Hall in Atlantic Mine, MI and ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the historic Fort Bayard, NM campus into a treatment center for veterans with post traumatic stress disorder. She was an Associate Member of the Marine Corp League 1328 in Silver City. The outpouring of love and support during her illness was a testament to her spirit of giving. A large number of family and friends made their way to Dona Ana to visit her, with many more calling and sending prayers and good wishes. She is survived by three sons, Isaac Thomas Brown and wife Helen of La Mirada, CA; Kristofer Eric Brown of Marquette, CA; Benjamin Franklin of Steamboat Springs, CO; one grandson, Alden Brooks (Isaac); two brothers, Franklin James Kladzyk Jr. and wife Patricia of El Paso, TX; Thomas Duncan and wife Jo Ellen Kladzyk of Manchester, MI; one sister, Pamela Ziemba Kladzyk of Bad Axe, MI; special friend, Craig Olsen of Albuquerque; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 2-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to begin at 6pm with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. A funeral mass will be held at St. Ignatius, Houghton, MI at 11am on September 4th followed by burial at the Atlantic Mine Cemetery in Atlantic Mine, MI.
