Kenneth Kaiponen

Obituary of Ken Kaiponen Chassell Kenneth L. Kaiponen, 86, a resident of Chassell passed away Tuesday evening October 16, 2018, at the Pine of Goodrich Assisted Living Facility in Goodrich, MI. He was born on February 19, 1932, in Trimountain, MI, a son of the late Waino and Ida (Koski) Kaiponen. Ken was raised in Chassell and was a graduateof the Chassell High School with the class of 1950. Mr. Kaiponen was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Korean War. Ken had worked on the Great Lakes for a short time before moving to lower Michigan to work as a Union carpenter retiring in 1992. He was united in marriage to the former Geraldine Pasek. While residing in lower Michigan the couple resided in Redford, Farmington, and Oxford. Since 1992, they have made their home in Chassell. Mr. Kaiponen was an active member of VFW Post #6507 of Chassell. He enjoyed golfing, working on projects in his wood shop and a few sewing projects from time to time. Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Robert and his sisters Elaine and Joyce. Surviving are: His wife: Geraldine Kaiponen a resident currently at the Pines of Goodrich in Good Rich, MI Several nieces, nephews and cousins. As requested no services will be held.
