Obituary of Kenneth Kyllonen South RangeKenneth L. Kyllonen, 79, a resident of South Range passed away Friday May 29, 2009, at home with his family by his side, following a short illness.He was born on January 7, 1930, in Waukegan, IL, a son of the late Leo and Hannah (Jackola) Kyllonen. As a child, he moved to Atlantic Mine and then to Redridge where he attended the Redridge School. He had also resided in Hancock, Kalispell, Montana, and for over the past 10 years has made his home in South Range.Mr. Kyllonen was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.In 1954 he was united in marriage to the former Doris Sutinen.Ken had worked for the City of Hancock Public Works Department as a mechanic and then retired from the Houghton County Road Commission, where he was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator. He then was a sales representative for Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners. Ken most recently worked for the Super 8 Motel in Houghton retiring 4 years ago. Mr. Kyllonen was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock. Burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery.
