Obituary of Kenneth Roy Liimatta Painesdale Kenneth Roy Liimatta, 77, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Coburntown, MI on October 24, 1934, son of Edward and Laina Liimatta. A graduate of Hancock High School, he lived in Painesdale for most of his life. He worked for ten years at White Pine Mine as a diesel mechanic and spent several years self-employed as a carpenter. He worked in the maintenance department at Twin Lakes State Park for fifteen years until his retirement two years ago. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul, his parents Edward and Laina Liimatta; three brothers: Warner, Donald, and Arthur Liimatta; sister Viola Liimatta Hackmann, and his infant twin sister Edith May. Kenneth is survived by his wife; Helen, of Painesdale; son Michael of Kansas City, MO; son Steven of Painesdale; grandson Erik of Daegu, South Korea; granddaughter Kirsten and great-granddaughter Naomi of Los Angeles, CA; sister Carol Smith of Fort Atkinson, WI; brother James Liimatta of Mio, MI and several cousins, nieces and nephews. A private graveside service was held on Monday August 27, 2012 at the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.
