Obituary of Kenneth Liimatta Calumet Kenneth Liimatta, 67, a resident of Fifth St., Calumet, and formerly of St. Mary's Location, Hancock, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2005, at the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center in Laurium, where he had been a patient since June 17, 2005. He was born in Hancock, on December 11, 1937, to the late Edwin and Bertha (Leinonen) Liimatta and was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the Class of 1956. He later lived in the Detroit area, before returning to the Copper Country to make his home in the Calumet area. While living in the Detroit area, he worked for Koenig Field & Supply, and locally was employed by McLain State Park and Twin Lakes State Park. He was a veteran having served with the United States Army. Ken was a past member of the Boston Volunteer Fire Department and the Aerospace Machinists Union Local #328. He was preceded in death by a son, Kerry Paul, his parents, and 1 brother, Paul. Surviving are: 2 Sons; Kenneth of Suamico, Wisconsin Jason of Suamico, Wisconsin 2 Stepsons; Michael Harry & David Harry 2 Sisters; Mrs. Doris (Douglas) Moyle of Laurium & Mrs. Carole (Jon) Ahola of Hancock Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins. Private funeral services will be held Monday at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with the Rev. Jimalee Jones to officiate. Burial to be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
