Obituary of Kevin Ponnikas Coburntown Kevin J. Ponnikas, 47, a resident of Coburntown passed away at home Tuesday January 11, 2011. He was born on January 27, 1963, a son of the late Allan and Katherine (Kaarlela) Ponnikas. Kevin was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the class of 1981. Kevin was employed with Manderfield Incorporated. He continued his education trough trade school and became a Union Sheet Metal Worker and was employed with numerous Union contractors. He soon opened his own business The Metal Shop, Inc. which he was very proud of his accomplishments. Unfortunately, he was forced into early retirement sue to a car accident which made him unable to continue his business. Kevin was a member of First Lutheran Church of Dollar Bay, serving as an usher, lector, and a church board member. Kevin enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, snowmobiling, boating, and vacationing. He especially loved the time he spent with his son. "Camp Noah" was his favorite place to be. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his sister Valerie Ross, his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandparents. Surviving are his wife, Christine, his 15 year old son Noah. His brother Richard (Anne) Ponnikas , sister: Sandi (Albert) Blevins, and his brother-in-law Jim Ross. He is also survived by numerous aunts uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service for Kevin will be held 4 pm Sunday, January 16, 2011, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Nicholas Hopman to officiate. Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock is assisting the family with the arrangements.
