Laurie Elenbaas (Heemstra)

Laurie S. Elenbaas, age 64, of Lake Lindon, MI, went to join her Father in Heaven peacefully due to congestive heart failure on Friday, 7 August 2020 in Houghton, MI. Laurie was born on 22 February 1956 in Grand Rapids, MI, the eldest daughter of late Hollis Duane Heemstra and Mary Ellen (Tinholt) Heemstra. Laurie was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI, becoming a Registered Nurse which was her calling to help anyone in need. She owned a successful business in Jenison, MI, and later went to travel the country helping others in times of need. Laurie loved to travel and be around any location with water as it always brought her serenity, peace, and joy. She was a dedicated and vivacious personality and her laugh was infectious. Later in life she dedicated her time and joy to her grandchildren. She was a very strong and special person, a rock to many. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Mostly she loved life and instilled an everlasting impression on everyone she encountered. Laurie is survived by her daughter Danielle (Serjey) Ficeli of Oklahoma, sons, Zach (Tyana) Elenbaas of Iron River, MI, Hunter (Katelynn) Elenbaas of Manitowoc, WI; sisters Lynn Heemstra (William) VanVugt, Lois (Ted) Elenbaas, and brother Gary Heemstra; grandchildren Daxton, Weston, and Auston Elenbaas, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Memorial services will be held at a later date and time with family and friends gathering around the water to enjoy her wonderful life.
