Lempi Sarja

Obituary of Lempi Sarja Twin Lakes Mrs. Lempi S. (Eino) Sarja, 76, a resident of Twin Lakes, passed away early Saturday morning, November 20, 2004, at her home following a lenghty illness. The former Lampi Sofia Kohtala, was born on march 17, 1928, in Pequaming, a daughter of the late William and Selma (Puumala) Kohtala. At the age of 2 she moved to Chassell and attended the Chassell Schools. She resided in Chassell until she was married to Eino Sarja on February 14, 1948. The couple then lived for a short time in Winona and later resided for over 40 years in the Twin Lakes area. She was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Atlantic Mine. Preceding her in death were: Her parents; 1 sister; Julia Marttila, and 5 Brothers: Wesley, William, Elmer, Ernest, & Donald Kohtala. Surviving are: her husband, Eino 1 Daughter: Eva Klapper of Augusta, Georga 1 Grand daughter: Jennifer Klapper of Baltimore, Maryland 2 Sisters: Mrs. Irene (Robert) Byykkonen of Ishpeming Mrs. Florence (Albert) Pesola of Dodgeville numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 11 A.M. in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton, with Richard Eskola and Peter Torola officiating. Burial to be in the Chassell Cemetery. Friends may call at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, on Monday from 6 to 8 P.M. and for 1 hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
