Lena Narhi-Hyrkas

Obituary of Lena Narhi Lake Linden Lena "Lee" Narhi-Hyrkas, 87, a resident of the Centerline Apartments in Lake Linden, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2005, at the Portage Health System Hospital where she was a patient for several hours. Prior to that she was a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock. The former Lena Narhi was born in Tamarack City on December 4, 1917, a daughter of the late Arvid and Lena (Oja) Narhi and was a graduate of Dollar Bay High School. She later lived in the Detroit area for 55 years and since October of 1995, made her home in Lake Linden. She was united in marriage to George Narhi on Sept. 6, 1941, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1974. She was also married to Wesley Hyrkas on March 21, 1981, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1989. Lena was a former member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Detroit, and attended Faith Lutheran Church of Calumet. She was also preceded in death by: 3 brothers; Henry, Donald, and Victor, and 1 sister; Esther Linja. Surviving are: 1 Brother: Reino (Delores) Narhi of Hubbell 2 Sisters: Jean Narhi of Tamarack City Clarice Narhi of San Diemas, California Several nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at 2 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock. Burial to be in Glen Eden Memorial Cemetery in Livonia. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, from 12 Noon until time of services.
