Obituary of Daniel Isakson MR South Entry, ChassellDaniel R. Isakson, 62, a resident of South Entry, Chassell, passed away Sunday February 16, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, where he had been a patient for the past four weeks.He was born on December 25, 1951, in Pontiac, MI, a son of the Raymond and Patricia (Driscoll) Isakson. He was raised in Merrill, WI and Detroit, MI where he attended Cooley High School.Mr. Isakson was a decorated veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam War where he received two Purple Hearts, two bronze Stars one with V Device and two Army Accommodations to name some.Following his service to the United States Dan began a career as a fire fighter for the City of Detroit a job he truly enjoyed until he was forced into retirement due to injuries received in a chemical fire. Locally Dan relied on his strong faith to work as a Christian Counselor for New Creation Ministries. In retirement Mr. Isakson moved to make his home in the Upper Peninsula, first in Curtis then Iron River and since 1998 he has made his home in South Entry.On March 7, 1996, he was united in marriage to the former Paula Koski.Mr. Isakson was a member of the Order of the Purple Heart Chapter #789 of Chassell and the V.F.W. Post #6507 of Chassell. He enjoyed painting, remodeling, antiquing, hunting and fishing.Preceding him in death was his sister Christine Firestone.Surviving are: His wife Paula Isakson of South EntryHis parents: Raymond and Patricia Isakson of South EntryHis step-sons: Brandon Huuki, Justin Huuki and Clinton HuukiHis three sons: Christian Isakson, Daniel Isakson and Andreas Hub.His grandchildrenHis brothers: James (Dawn) Isakson of Ann Arbor, MI Timothy (Julie) Isakson of Schaumburg, Illinois Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousinsA memorial service for Dan will be held 11 am Saturday May 10, 2014, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral home of Chassell with Darwin Cote to officiate.
