Obituary of Lila Hongisto Chassell Mrs. Lila M. Hongisto, 75, a resident of the Denton Road, Chassell, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2003, at the Marquette General Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past 4 days. The former Lila Karvonen was born in Fulton Location on August 7, 1928, a daughter of the late John & Naimi (Kilpela) Karvonen. She later lived in Mohawk, the Chassell area, in Detroit for a short time, and for over 50 years had made her home on the Denton Road in Chassell. On October 6, 1945, she was united in marriage to Edward G. Hongisto and he preceded her in death on January 16, 1996. Lila was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton. She was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Norman in August of 1985, her parents; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers. Surviving are: 1 Daughter; Sandy (Al) Hunter of Bellingham, Washington 3 Grandchildren; Bill (Kathy) Hunter of Bellingham, Washington - Laura Hunter of Atlanta, GA - Kristi Hongisto of Appleton, WI 3 Great Grandchildren; Katelyn, Lily, & Will Hunter all of Bellingham, WA 2 Sisters; Judy (Rueben) Anderson of Little Betsy - Shirley (Albert) Baillargeon of Wonder Lake, Illinois 1 Brother; Donald (Cheryl) Karvonen of Marquette, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2003, at 1 P.M. in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton, with Richard Eskola & Rueben Anderson to officiate. Spring burial to be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Chassell, and from 12 noon until 1 P.M. at the church on Saturday.
