Obituary of Lillian Wilhelmina Karna Houghton Lillian W. Karna, 86, a former resident of Houghton, passed away Thursday evening April 6, 2006, at the Cypress manor Nursing Home in Hancock where she had been a resident patient since September of 2003. Lillian was born on February 27, 1920, in Painesdale, MI, the daughter of the late Abram and Wilhelmina (Seppanen) Kemppainen. She attended the local schools. Mrs. Karna had worked as a cafeteria worker in the Farmington Schools and at Michigan Technological University. On June 5, 1937, she was united in marriage to Osmo Karna and he preceded her in death on September 27, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, Joseph, Phillip, Rueben, and Robert, and sisters, Gertrude, and Sylvia. Surviving are: Numerous nieces and nephews Funeral services for Lillian will be held 11 A.M. this Tuesday April 11, 2006, in the Grace Lutheran Church of South Range with Rev. Peter Gundersen to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery of South Range. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday April 11, 2006, from 10 A.m. until time of the services. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church of South Range or the patient activities department of Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock.
