Obituary of Louella Palonen Chassell Louella M. Palonen, 66, a resident of Chassell passed away Thursday morning June 6, 2013, at the Omega House in Houghton following a lengthy illness. She was born on June 19, 1946, in Calumet, MI, a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Tiura) Johnson. She attended the Calumet Schools before starting work at an early age to help support her family. Louella had worked for Columbia Laundry in Calumet, was a nurse's aide in the area and then worked at the Chippewa Restaurant in Chassell before her health problems stopped her working days. In 1987, she was united in marriage to James Palonen and on June 6, 2002, he preceded her in death. Mrs. Palonen was willing to help anyone in need, she enjoyed caring for her pets, playing board games, and working with craft projects. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and her brother Carl. Surviving are: Her son: Clinton (Lisa) Hansen of Hancock Her daughter: Heather Hansen of Sterling Heights, MI Her step-daughter: Darleen (Paul) Jensen of Pelkie Her grandchildren: Corey, Sarah, Hanna, Desiree, Deidre and Rayven Her great grandchildren: Randall and Christopher Her sisters: Estelle Rantanen of Calumet Lois Monville of Calumet Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins A time to remember Louella will be held 11 am Monday June 10, 2012, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Chassell.
