Obituary of Louise Raasakka Hancock Louise (Paul) Raasakka, 74, a resident of Hancock, passed away Thursday morning October 17, 2013, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where she had been a patient for the past day. She was born on February 7, 1939, in Tri-Mountain, a daughter of the late Eli and Thelma (Niemi) Kuusisto. As a child she moved with her family to Swedtown Location. She was a graduate of the Calumet High School with the class of 1957, she then attended Soumi College. Louise was working at Montgomery Wards when she met her future husband Paul Raasakka. The couple were united in marriage on January 30, 1960. They first resided in Los Angeles, CA and for the past 50 years have made their home in Hancock. Mrs. Raasakka was also employed with Festival Foods in Houghton as a bookkeeper and clerk. Louise was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her family and was Paul's favorite fishing partner for the past 44 years. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother; Arthur Kuusisto and her sister; Evelyn Kuusisto. Surviving are: Her husband: Paul Raasakka of Hancock Her children: Suzanne (John) Kesti of Laurium Mark (Mary Ann) Raasakka of Laurium John (Carol) Raasakka of Howell, MI David (Lynn) Raasakka of Hancock, MI Peter Raasakka of Ishpeming 20 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren Her brother: James (Helen) Kuusisto of Camarillo, CA Her sisters: Ruth (Karl) Parks of Ahmeek Loc. Florence (Clifford) Anderson of Calumet Mary Jane (Peter) Haapala of Barnum, MN Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Louise will be held 11 am Tuesday October 22, 2013, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Richard Eskola to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock. Friends may call on Monday October 21, 2013, from 4 to 7 pm at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton and on Tuesday from 10 am until time of services at the church.
