Obituary of Mamie Marcotte Hancock Mamie O. Marcotte, 104, a former resident of Hancock passed away Thursday evening November 7, 2013, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient since August of 1999. She was born on March 15, 1909, in Ripley, MI, a daughter of the late Eli and Gustava (Korpinen) Strong. Mamie attended the local schools and was very proud that she was able to obtain her GED in her seventies. On September 7, 1939, she was united in marriage to Wilfred Marcotte. They raised 5 children together. Mamie was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock and also enjoyed attending church services at the Salvation Army. She enjoyed spending her free time visiting with family and friends. Preceding her in death were her children; Dennis Marcotte, Phyllis Strong, Betty Harry and Howard Marcotte; her grandchildren Angela Harry, Alan Marcotte and Steven Marcotte, along with her parents and siblings Werner, Norman, Mildred, Elmer, Irene, Howard, Dorothy, Allan, Alfred and Ronald. Surviving are: Her son: Robert "Butch" Marcotte of Hancock Her grandchildren, great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins A private service for Mamie will be held at a later time at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev.
