Marie Hilgers

Obituary of Marie C. Hilgers Houghton Marie C. Hilgers, 94, a resident of Houghton passed away Wednesday morning June 3, 2015, at her home. She was born in the family home on October 25, 1920, to John and Bertha (Bleise) Hilgers. Marie was a graduate of the Houghton High School with the class of 1938. Marie had worked as a secretary in the area for the Douglas Insurance Agency, Attorney Harold Schulte, UPPCO and Attorney Norman McClain before retiring in 1984. Ms. Hilgers was an active member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton. She had taught Catechism, was a former member of the choir and a former member of the Altar Society and was a past president of Sodality of Fatima. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Lawrence Hilgers and her sisters; Helen DeRoche, Catherine DesRochers and Francis Massie. Surviving are: Her sister Agnes Hilgers of Houghton Numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie will be held 11 am Friday June 5, 2015, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday June 5, 2015, from 10 am until time of services at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton.
