Obituary of Marie Helen Kotila Houghton Marie H. Kotila, 89, a resident of the Arbor Green Apartments in Houghton unexpectedly passed away Monday July 27, 2015, at her home.Marie was born on October 25, 1925, in Hancock a daughter of the late Oscar and Esther (Juntunen) Fredd. She was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the class of 1943.Mrs. Kotila had been employed first with D & N Savings & Loan in Hancock and then Michigan Technological University, where she retired from in 1984. On May 14, 1949, she was united in marriage to Myron Kotila in Hancock. In 1956 Myron preceded her in death.Marie was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock.Also preceding her in death were her daughter Barbara Pardini, her brother Paul Fredd in World War II and her sister Eva Fredd.Surviving are: Her son: Paul (Mary Farrell) Kotila of Fitzwilliam, NH Her daughter: Susan (Jeff) Coburn of Holland, MI Her son-in-law: James Pardini of Hancock, MI Her brother-in-law: Earl Kotila of Meridian, ID Her grandchildren: Joe (Pam) Pardini, Jenny (Bryan) Celano and Lynn Coburn. Her great grandchildren: Samantha, Dylan and Jackson Pardini A special friend: Judy Peterson of Ripley, MISeveral nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral service for Marie will be held 1 pm Friday July 31, 2015, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock with Rev. DJ Rasner to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.
