Marilyn I. Gustafson, 78, a resident of Hancock, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at Butterworth-Corewell Hospital in Grand Rapids where she had been a patient for the past 12 days.

She was born on January 19, 1946, to the late Otto and Irene (Ruohonen) Ristila in Hancock, MI.  She attended Hancock High School until her family relocated to Tamaqua, PA in 1961.

She married her lifelong companion Charles Gustafson on August 11, 1962, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Hancock.  The couple resided in various parts of the midwest before returning to make their home in Hancock in 2001.

Marilyn had a servants heart.  While she worked various positions throughout her life, they all had one thing in common: serving others.  If she wasn’t taking care of you, she was serving you with her smile and sense of humor, or an extra helping of her cooking which she enjoyed sharing with all. She always wanted you to leave her table full.  Marilyn was an avid golfer that always enjoyed an afternoon on the golf course.  She made friends everywhere she went.

Her faith and family were paramount in her life.  Marilyn believed that through the trials & triumphs in life Jesus was always by her side.

She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them.  Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother,  and Great grandmother.  She especially loved her role as Nana.

Preceding her in death were: her parents; her brother; Marvin and her sister Joyce LePage.

Surviving are:
Her husband: Charles Gustafson of Hancock
