Marilyn D. Pesola, 62, a resident of L’Anse, passed away Monday, June 5, 2023, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born on November 12, 1960, in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Veikko and Lillian (Pelto) Pouttu. She was raised in Tapiola and was a graduate of Houghton High School. Following high school, Marilyn was united in marriage to Bruce Pesola. The couple resided in Tapiola where they raised their 2 children.

Marilyn was employed at Karvakko’s Market in Tapiola and later was a Housekeeper for Baraga County Memorial Hospital, a job in which she took a lot of pride. In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed reading, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and most of all, spending time with her mother until her passing last fall.

Preceding her in death besides her parents are brothers, Jack and Frank Pouttu, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Victor Pesola of Detroit and Leanne Pesola of Houghton.

She is further survived by her former husband Bruce, a special friend Tracy Smith, numerous cousins, and beloved friends.

A Memorial Service for Marilyn will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home – Chassell Chapel. Burial will take place in the Elo Cemetery.
