Obituary of Marilyn Helen Raisanen Broemer Rd. Marilyn H. Raisanen, 58, a resident of the Broemer Rd., Chassell, passed away Monday May 26, 2008, at her home with her family by her side following a lengthy illness. She was born on November 30, 1949, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Gustav and Mae (Greb) Grohman. As a child, she was raised in Painesdale and attended and graduated from the Jeffers High School with the class of 1967. On October 21, 1972, she was united in marriage to Robert Raisanen. Together they moved to Broemer Rd. where they had resided for over 35 years. On November 5, 2007, Robert preceded Marilyn in death. Mrs. Raisanen was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Hancock, where she was active with the church building/planning committee. Marilyn had worked at the South Range State Bank and for over the past 20 years for the Houghton School District as an aide and in the food service department. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and a brother-in-law, Frederick Anthony. Surviving are: Her children: Rebecca (Mark) Gaffney of Painesdale Thomas (Shellie) Raisanen of Walker, MI Shari (Shawn) Tapani of Chassell Carrie (Spencer) Jenkins of Baltic Her grandchildren: Ashley, Drake, Anna, Alix, Jared, Jacob, Tucker, Teegan, Kricia, Wyatt, and Kade. Her sisters: Eunice (Edward) Kern of Clarksville, TN Ruth (William) Chopp of Painesdale Lorna (John) Kaspala of Chassell Mary (Rev. Martin) Lopahs of St. James, MN Her sister-in-law: Shirley Anthony of Houghton Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services for Marilyn will be held 11 a.m. Friday May 30, 2008, at S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Hancock with Pastor David Weber to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Calumet.
