Obituary of Martha Hulkoff Houghton Martha E. Hulkoff, 86, a former resident of Houghton passed away Sunday December 20, 2009, at Clare Bridge of Troy Assisted Living Facility in Troy, MI where she had been a resident for the past year and a half. She was born on June 28, 1923, in Gay, MI a daughter of the late Frank and Emelena Williams. Martha was raised in Gay and graduated from the Lake Linden High School. On October 17, 1942, she was united in marriage to John E. Hulkoff. The couple resided in Redford Township until John retired from Excello Corporation. They then moved back to make their home in Houghton and spent some winters in Florida. Martha was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church first in the Detroit area where she was quite active helping teach Sunday school. Locally Martha was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. Martha loved her church and the Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly organization. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and nine brothers and sisters. Surviving are: Her children: John (Nancy) Hulkoff Jr. of the Calumet Water Works Location Christine (John) Cloutier of Rochester Hills, MI Her grandchildren: John Hulkoff IV of New Hudson, MI Navara (Jamie) Dunneback of New Hudson, MI Emily (Erik) Mellquist of Torrance, CA Ellen Cloutier of Rochester Hills, MI Her great grandchildren: John Hulkoff V, Dayna and Dylan Dunneback, Jack Mellquist Several nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Martha will be held 11 am Tuesday December 29, 2009, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Richard Eskola to officiate. Spring burial will be in the LakeView Cemetery of Calumet. Friends may call on Monday December 28, 2009, from 5-8 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock and on Tuesday from 10 am until time of services at the church.
