Mary J. (Gemignani) Foltz, 85 of Houghton,
Michigan passed away on March 22 nd , 2022, with
loving support from her eldest son Phil (Buck), and
his wife Karen.
Mary was born to the late Gino and Bianca
Gemignani in Hancock Michigan on September 7 th ,
1936. She was a graduate of Hancock High School
and earned her RN nursing degree from St.
Joseph’s Nursing School in Hancock, Michigan.
Shortly after earning her degree, Mary married
Phillip T. Foltz from Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Mary
and Phil then pursued various adventures and
careers then settled in the Chicago suburbs to raise
their family.
Mary worked for many years as a hospital RN then
spent the remainder of her career working in a small
doctor’s office where she made many lifelong
friends. Mary loved spending the summers at their
second home on Lake Gerald, Michigan surrounded
by her children and many nieces and nephews.
Mary and Phil would eventually make Lake Gerald
their permanent summer home, spending their
winters in Fort Myers, Florida. Mary lived a
wonderful life surrounded by many friends and
family who all loved her. Those close to Mary may
fondly remember her unapologetic way of always
speaking her mind.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 58
years, Philip T. Foltz who passed away on October
30 th , 2015. Mary greatly missed Phil, but we all take
great comfort in knowing that she is at peace,
reunited with her beloved husband in God’s eternal
resting place.
Mary leaves behind her four children, Philip
(Buck) Foltz and wife Karen Foltz of Houghton; Greg
Foltz and husband Mike Dilius of Fort Myers Florida;
Jeffery Foltz and his wife Gaynor Collins of Paradise
Valley, Arizona; and daughter Kristen (Foltz) Hatfield
and husband Donald Hatfield of Marion, Iowa.
Grandchildren Mindy Nicklas and husband Jeremy
Nicklas of Waukesha Wisconsin; Tristan Foltz and
fiancé Ciarra Shelp of Appleton Wisconsin; Annika
Foltz of Marquette Michigan; Ashleigh and Courtney
Foltz of Paradise Valley Arizona; Quintin, Austin and
Griffin Hatfield of Marion Iowa; as well as great
grandchildren, Brooklyn, Logan, and Charlotte.
A mass of remembrance and service will take place
on Saturday, July 9 th at 11:00 at Holy Family Catholic
Church, 107 Atlantic Avenue, South Range,
Michigan. Following the service, a luncheon will be
served in the lower level of Holy Family Catholic
Church.
Mary was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother,
Noni, and friend and will be remembered and
missed greatly by all.
