Obituary of Mary Ginter Chassell Mary Elizabeth Ginter 83, would have been 84, on Sunday Aug. 21, 2005, of U.S. 41 Chassell, passed away Saturday Aug. 20, 2005, at the Portage Health System Hospital in Hancock. The former Mary Elizabeth Heagan, was born in Rockville Center, New York, on August 21, 1921, a daughter of the late Stephen James and Marguerite (Higgins) Heagan. She attended an ivy league school- Hofstra University in the state of New York after graduating from High School at the age of 16. She spent her winters in Sun City West, Arizona and summers on Portage Lake, Chassell, MI . She lived in Chicago Heights, Illinois before moving to the Chassell area. She was a longtime Chicago Cubs Fan, and loved to reminisce about her teenage years in New York when the tickets to Yankee Stadium on Ladies Day where 10 cents & hot dogs cost only a nickel. She loved Big Band music, old time movies, chocolate, and Mackinaw Island Fudge ice cream. She also was an avid reader & loved crossword puzzles, and enjoyed the bridge-club. Mary Elizabeth was a member and served as captain of the Womens Auxiliary Corp. (W.A.C.'s). Mrs. Ginter was a member of St. Ann's Church of Chassell. Surviving are: 2 Sons; Jack (Sue) Ginter of Upatoi, Georgia & Rick (Diana) Ginter of Chassell, MI 1 Daughter; Cathy (Dennis) Kerwin of Chassell 3 Grandchildren: Kim (Ed) Parker, Jackie Ginter, & Jessie Ginter 3 Great Grandchildren: Megan, Eric, & Ben Parker Private family funeral services will be held this week at St. Ann's Church in Chassell, with Fr. Larry Van Damme presiding. The burial to take place in the Chassell Cemetery. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell is serving the family.
