Obituary of Mary Harvey Tampa, Fl/Houghton, MIMary Geraldine Harvey, age 89, passed away Tuesday, March 6th in Tampa, Florida after a short illness. Mary was born in Hurontown, Michigan in 1922 and lived most of her life in Houghton. In 2004 she moved to Orlando, Florida to be closer to her son, Phillip and his wife Drusilla. They later moved to Tampa, Florida in 2006 where she lived with Phil and Dru.Mary was the daughter of Phyllis and Albert Brunette. She had four sisters, Alberta Hainault of White Pine, Helen Marcotte of Detroit, Jean Brunette of Houghton, and Kathleen Hausser of Pittsburg, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell and all of her sisters, as well as one nephew, John Marcotte of Detroit.Mary graduated from Houghton High School with the class of 1940. After graduating she worked for the former J.J. Newberry Company of Houghton, and the Roach and Seeber Company, Wholesalers of Houghton.She later worked as the secretary for the Grace United Methodist Church of Houghton for 25 years where she was a member since her very early years. She was very well known for her skills at making pasties and enjoyed the pasty dinners at the church.On July 28, 1945 she married Russell Harvey of Hancock, Michigan and they were married until his death in December, 1992.She was most recently a member of Harvester United Methodist Church of Lutz, Florida where she attended with her son Phil.Surviving are her two sons, Russell Harvey of Cherokee, Iowa and Phillip Harvey (Dru) of Tampa, Florida.She is also survived by her grandchildren John Harvey of Milford, Michigan, Mike Harvey of Houston, Texas, Julie Harberts of Shelby Township, Michigan, Alicia Harvey of Chicago, Illinois, Brandy Parker (John) of Orlando, Florida, William Aldred of Pensacola, Florida, Nicolas DiBenardo of Orlando, and Michael DiBenardo of New York City.Her nieces Gail (Godfrey) Holmstrom of Issaquah, Washington, Mary Claire Lahti (Bill) of White Pine, Michigan, Sharon Marcotte of Detroit and nephews Robert (Patty) Marcotte of Detroit, Doug Hausser of Pittsburg, PA, Jim (Kathy) Hainault of Hancock, MI, and Eugene Hainault of Kenosha, WIMary is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Jayden and Jacob (Julie Harberts), and Mulunesh, Samual, Archike, Abush, Sinkenesh and Aschalew (Brandy and John Parker).Funeral services for Mary will be held 11 am Monday March 12, 2012, at Grace United Methodist Church of Houghton with Rev. Christine Bohnsak to officiate.
