Obituary of Matt North Hancock/Dollar BayMatt North, 77, a resident of Lakeview Manor in Hancock and formerly of Dollar Bay, passed away early Tuesday morning October 26, 2010, at his home following a lengthy illness.He was born on May 6, 1933, in Centennial Height, a son of the late Matt and Amanda North. Matt was a graduate of the Calumet Schools with the class of 1952.Matt was proud to have been active with the National Guard for many years. Mr. North had been employed with the Copper Country Dairy, Horner Flooring, and the Marathon Station in Dollar Bay. On October 17, 1970, he was united in marriage to the former Gloria Johnson.Matt was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church of Dollar Bay and also a lay preacher for many rest homes in the area and a guest preacher at various churches. He was a former member and Treasurer of the Dollar Bay School Board, and a former area President of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He was an avid motorcyclist, and enjoyed working on, building, buying and selling motorcycles, trailers, and cars. Brian Knight to officiate.
