Maxine Ruth Morlan, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home, with her family, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Maxine was born July 31st, 1942, in Trimountain, MI, to Eric and Elsie Sporbert. She grew up in Painesdale, MI, and graduated from Jeffers High School in 1960. She went on to marry her soulmate, Donald Morlan, with whom she had four children, Scottie, Kelly, Colleen, and Don. They moved downstate to Whitmore Lake and then Belleville, where Maxine worked at Ford Motor Company and raised her children until they moved back to the Upper Peninsula in 1980. While living down at the Portage Entry, she worked at Clint's in the mall and the Keweenaw Berry Farm in Chassell before eventually retiring from Walmart. Not long after her husband passed, Maxine moved back into the home she grew up in to help take care of her mother. Maxine liked to spend her time reading her mystery books, building jigsaw puzzles, going to the casino, knitting sweaters for all of her great-grandkids, and spending time with her family.

Maxine is survived by her children Don Morlan (Rebecca Butler), and Colleen Morlan (Michael Ruddell), her daughter in law Kay Morlan, her grandchildren Samantha Morlan, Nichole (Chris) McKellar, April Morlan, Geri (Michael) Zenner, Katie (Sean) Perron, Kasey (Holley) Morlan, and Donny Miller (Mariah Juntunen), along with numerous great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and close friends with whom she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents Eric and Elsie, twin sister Patsy, brother Eric, her beloved husband Donald, and her sons, Kelly and Scottie.

Maxine will forever be remembered for her love of Eeyore, Garfield, hummingbirds, the casino, Cheetos, Red Pop, swimming and fishing with all her grandkids at the entry house, and the infinite love she had for her family and friends and numerous pets she had along the years.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 1st at 12 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in South Range, MI, with the funeral service to follow immediately after at 1 pm.
