Obituary of Mayme Cobb Hancock Mayme E. Cobb, 89, a resident of Hancock passed away Sunday morning January 20, 2013, at the Medora House of Portage Pointe in Hancock where she had been a resident patient since this past November. She was born on July 22, 1923, in Oskar, MI, a daughter of the late Jack and Edna (Dorvinen) Ruohonen. On December 6, 1944, Mae was united in marriage to Harry Cobb. In 2007 Harry preceded her in death after 63 years of marriage. Mrs. Cobb was a member of Portage Lake United Church of Houghton, she was an avid reader enjoying to read 3 to 4 books at one time. She also enjoyed sending birthday cards to family and friends. Surviving are: Her children: Doug (Merry) Cobb of Newaygo, MI Connie (Susan) Cobb of Kingsford, MI Carol Hassett of Mesa, AZ Chuck (Kathi) VanHoey of Greenville, MI Her grandchildren: Carrie (Phil) Reynolds, Darrell (Char) Cobb, Greg (Jill) Cobb, Patrick Hassett, Jason (Amanda) VanHoey, Heather (Marc) Sutherland, Mike (Angie) Parsons 13 great grandchildren Her sisters: Aili Dunstan of Houghton Canal Martha Hermanson Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Mae will be held 11 am Monday February 4, 2013, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Pastor Cindy Method to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday February 3, 2013, from 6 to 8 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, and on Monday from 10 am until time of services at the funeral Home. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to the Omega House, 211 Maureen Ln, Houghton, MI 49931.
