Obituary of Micahel Wendell Humes Houghton Michael W. Humes, 51, a resident of Houghton, passed away Wednesday morning November 4, 2015, at the Omega House in Houghton following a Epic four year battle with brain cancer. He was born on December 8, 1963, in Racine, WI, a son of the Evelyn (Bizzy) Humes and the late John Humes. Mike was raised in Algonac, MI, and was a graduate of the Algonac High School with the class of 1982. On July 6, 1991, he was united in marriage to the former Ann Kasperowicz. The couple raised two daughters and have resided in Houghton since 1999. Mr. Humes had worked as a mechanical designer until attending Michigan Technological University to receive a Mechanical Engineering Degree. He then had worked in various part of the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. Since 2007, he has been employed with Upper Peninsula Engineers and Architects as a mechanical engineer. Mike loved music and was a huge Detroit Lions and Tigers fan. He also enjoyed working out, staying in shape and the many friendships he made at the gym. He truly loved spending time with his family. Preceding him in death was is father. John Martignon to lead. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery at a later time. Friends may call on Saturday November 7,, 2015 from 3 pm until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell.
