Michael Manderfield

Obituary of Michael Manderfield Atlantic Mine Michael F. Manderfield passed away Monday March 9, 2015, at UP Health Systems Marquette Hospital where he suffered a week long illness. Michael F. Manderfield was born on May 15, 1953 to the late Francis H. Manderfield and the late Shirley (Liberty) Chartier. Michael lived in Houghton all his live and graduated from the Houghton High School with the class of 1971. In May 1975, he was united in marriage to Patricia Saari and they had a daughter born on December 19, 1974 and named her Michelle. They divorced in 1993 but still remained friends. Michael was employed with Gitzens and Manderfield Electric until he was diagnosed with kidney disease. In 1988, he was blessed to receive a kidney transplant and was blessed to live a healthy normal life once again. Michael was a very avid fisherman, always taking his daughter fishing with him every chance they could get. He loved football and always enjoyed cooking and doing home remodeling projects. Preceding him in death were his parents, his aunt and Uncle who raised Michael Eva & Toney Steinmetz and his aunt Lucille Lenz and his father-in-law John Saari. Also preceding him in death was Sadie, his dog and best friend. Surviving are: His daughter Michelle (Steve) Mickalich; his grandsons; Tristian and Stephen, a special friend Marci Ollila and his dog Roxi. A special uncle Fr. Paul Manderfield along with several other uncles, aunts, cousins and special friends that always loved him, Carole & Jim Sten, Kathy & Jerry Norkol, Ruster & Joan Saari, JoAnn & Ron Ekdahl and Katherine Saari. A memorial service for Michael will be held 11 am Monday March 16, 2015, at the Plowe Funeral Home of Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday March 16, 2015, from 10 am until time of services at the Plowe Funeral Home of Houghton.
