Obituary of M. Richards Houghton M. Jean Richards, 80, a resident of W. Edwards Street, Houghton, passed away early Monday morning, July 12, 2004, at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, where she had been a patient since Saturday morning. The former Miriam Jean Tepsa was born in Houghton, on January 14, 1924, a daughter of the late Bernard and Amanda (Moilanen) Tepsa, and was a graduate of the Houghton Schools. She later was employed by the former Van Orden Coal Co., Houghton National Bank, and retired from Michigan Technolgical University. On Feb. 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to J. Kenneth Richards, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1974. Mrs. Richards was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Atlantic Mine. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 Sisters, Ellen Richards & Ruth Tepsa; 2 brothers, Paul and Wesley Tepsa; and 1 Aunt, Ida Moilanen. Surviving are: 2 Sisters: Anita (Edgar) Taivalkoski of Fulton Loc., Mohawk Edith Montague of Battle Creek A sister-in-law: Hazel Tepsa of Houghton numeorus nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2004, at 11 A.M. in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Atlantic Mine, with Richard Eskola officiating. Burial to be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. Friends may call at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock, on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. and for 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
