Obituary of Myra M. Walman Houghton Myra M. Walman, 81, a resident of Houghton passed away Sunday February 11, 2018, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a patient for the past three months. She was born on June 22, 1936, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Edward and Lydia (Wanhatalo) Wirtanen. Myra was a graduate of the Hancock High School. She was united in marriage to Russell Walman. The couple moved to Battle Creek, MI, where they had three children and Myra worked for Eaton Corporation. In 1984, Myra moved to make her home in the Copper Country. She had worked for many years as a sales clerk at the Hallmark Store in the Copper Country Mall. Mrs. Walman enjoyed reading and adored her dog Beezer. Preceding her in death were her children: Rusty Walman, Brian Walman and Debbie Walman, her granddaughter, Linzy Monticello, her son-in-law: Michael Scott. her parents, her brother: Bruce Wirtanen, her longtime companion and former husband Edward Chaing. Surviving are: Her daughter: Melanie Scott of Houghton Her grandsons: Michael and Bruce Scottf Her granddaughters: Bailey & Avery Walman. Her sister: Myrna Joyal-Oja of Dollar Bay Several nieces, nephews and cousins A graveside service for Myra will be held later this spring in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.
