Obituary of Nicholas Persha PainesdaleNicholas P. "Buddy" Persha, 85, a resident of Painesdale, passed away Saturday March 30, 2013, at the Marquette General Hospital following a lengthy illness.He was born on July 12, 1927, in Painesdale, a son of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Cor) Persha. He attended the Painesdale School. Mr. Persha was a veteran having served with the United States Army as a medical technician during the Korean War.On May 17, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Katherine DeForge. Together the couple raised 4 children together and celebrated 64 years of marriage.Buddy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Painesdale and more recently Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range. He retired from White Pine Copper Mine in 1982, where he was a shop mechanic. Buddy loved spending time in his garden, playing bingo, and most importantly spending time with his family.Preceding him in death were his son Nicholas Jr.; his parents; his brother; Joseph; and his sisters; Mary, Frances and Josephine.Surviving are: His wife: Katherine Persha of PainesdaleHis children: Patricia (Don) Bendzinski of Jackson, MI Debbie (Keith) Blom of Painesdale, MI Janine (Bob) Wales of Atlantic Mine, MIHis grandchildren: Barb (Mike) Jennings, Marc (Becky) Blom, Laura (Jeff) Moggo, Scott (Cathy) Blom, Tracy (Todd) Korpi, Chad Persha, Amy (Mark) Mann and Shawn RossbergHis great grandchildren: Sandy Blom, Mason Blom, Ashlee Mann, Ashlee Blom, Michael Jennings, Carter Korpi, Cameron Korpi and Keegan KorpiHis sisters: Rose Guili of ChassellJudy Liddy of Helena, MTNancy Hiltunen of LauriumNumerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.A memorial mass for Buddy will be held 11 am Thursday April 4, 2013, at the Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range, with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Spring burial with military rites will be held in the Mt.
