Obituary of Norma Delia Maatta Coburntown Norma Delia (Joyal) Maatta, 67 of Coburntown passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2008, where she had been a resident of Cypress Manor Nursing Home for a short time. She was born May 2nd, 1940 to the late Lawrence and Eleanor (Dessellier) Joyal. Norma attended Hancock and calumet public schools. On June 6th, 1959 she was united in marriage to William Kenneth Maatta in Hancock, MI. She was a loving housewife and mother to her husband and children. Also she enjoyed gardening, canning, blueberry picking, fishing, baking, cooking, trips to Wisconsin to visit family, and casino trips. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved cat "Suzie." She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Eleanor Joyal, one brother Rueben Joyal, and three sisters, Jean Poos, Judy Mae Joyal, and Theresa Norlin. She is survived by her husband of 48 years William Maatta, five daughters, Judy Swetich of Calumet, Cathy (Joe) Palosaari of Hancock, Shirley (Wayne) Hiltunen of Calumet, Paula (Duane) Simons of Calumet, and Laura (Bill) Sever of Calumet. Also nine grandchildren, Julene (Kai) Thomas, Jenny Maatta, Brooke Reilly, Zach Palosaari, Steven Maatta, Jasmine, Seth, Sage, and Sebastian Sever. Three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tori Hendrickson and Tianna Kyllonen. Siblings, Jerry (Helen) Joyal of Lake Linden, Twin brother Norman (Pat) Joyal of Wisconsin, Weldon (Nancy) Joyal of Wisconsin, Aldred Joyal of Lake Linden, Calvin Joyal of California, Rodreick (Sharon) Joyal of Wisconsin, Audrey (David) Hebner of Dollar Bay, Lois Magray of Wisconsin, Marlene (William) Goudge of Hancock, and Pauline (Nicholas) Stiles of California. Three Brother-in-laws, Elmer Maatta of Hancock, Joseph Poos of Wisconsin, Richard Norlin of Dollar Bay, and four sister-in-laws, Dorothy (Robert) Puffer of Michigan, Virginia Maatta of Houghton, Lillian Maatta of Houghton, Martha Bratherton of Michigan, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Norma was a very fun loving person with a good sense of humor and a big heart. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In honor of Norma's wishes cremation has taken place with private memorial services for immediate family. Fr. John Martignon will be officiating.
