Norma Vezzetti

Obituary of Norma Armida Vezzetti Houghton Norma Lucchesi. Vezzetti, 85, a former resident of South Range, the Houghton Canal and of the Bluffs Senior Living Community in Houghton passed away at her home Thursday afternoon with family at her side. She was born on March 13, 1923, in South Range, a daughter of the late Caesar and Gelsomina Lucchesi. Norma was a graduate of the Jeffers High School where she was Class President. On September 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ernest Vezzetti and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1998. Mrs. Vezzetti had worked as a bookkeeper for her father at the Range Oil & Gas Company in South Range. She also was a landlord/owner for various rental properties in South Range, Houghton, and Oskar. Mrs. Vezzetti was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range, the Daughters of Italy, the Copper Range Historical Society, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, she was a charter member of the Range Snowmobile Club. Norma was very proud of her family's tradition of flying and the fact that she first flew a plane solo at the age of 16. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, skiing, bowling, and she loved telling stories of the good old days, and visiting with friends new and old. Preceding her in death were her parents, an infant son, Caesar, her brothers Fred, Geno, Leo, & Bruno. Surviving are: Her children: Eugene (Karen) Vezzetti of Seattle, WA Maria(David) Matson of San Francisco, CA Kathleen Vezzetti of Wilmington, NC Fred (Chris) Vezzetti of Metamora, MI Lisa (Michael) O'Grady of Redford, MI Her grandchildren: Angelina, Julianna, Nicholas, Gregory, Adele, Steve, Ryan, Michael, Katrina, Kirstin, Kaitlyn, Mike & Mark Her great grandchildren: Devlin, Ana Malia, Makela and Tristin Her sister: Ann Marcheschi presently residing at Cypress Manor Nursing Home Her sister-in-law: Georgia Lucchesi a resident of the Bluff Senior Living Community of Houghton Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins A memorial mass for Norma will be held 1 p.m. Saturday March 29, 2008, at the Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range with Fr. John Martignon to celebrate. Friends may call on Saturday at the Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range from 12 noon until time of service where the Daughters of Italy will hold a memorial service at 12:50 p.m. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock has been assisting the family with the arrangements.
