Obituary of Norman Paavola Hancock Norman E. Paavola, 85, a former resident of the Arbor Green Apartments in Houghton, passed away early Friday morning, Jan. 2, 2004, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock, where he had been a resident patient for the past 5 years. He was born in Quincy Location on January 3, 1918, a son of the late Arvid & Emma (Krapu) Paavola, and attended the local schools. He later resided in Hancock, Detroit for 13 years, Grand Rapids, and rural Hancock, before making his home in Houghton. Norm was a baker by trade On September 28 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Jennie Raisanen, whom he was married to for 57 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Air Force in China & Burma. Surviving are: his wife, Jennie a resident of Arbor Green Aparmtnets, in Houghton 2 Sons: Norman Eugene (Joan) Paavola of Grand Rapids Kim Keith (Robin) Paavola of Alto, MI 3 Grandchildren 1 Sister: Mrs. Betty Somero of Hancock Several nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at 2 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, with Rev. Ken Toth and Kim Paavola to officiate. Spring burial to be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
